We have a little family ranch just outside if Rapid City, South Dakota, with incredible views of the Black Hills, Mt, Rushmore and if you spin the other direction the beautiful Badlands. We are a combined family, with 7 kids and 9 grand kids and counting.
We grew up here and although, I, Renee, left for 25 years, I came back and am living the dream... on weekends and evenings because we also have full time jobs. Mike runs a company and I work for a company out of New York from 8-5. So, we are always busy! Just 1 of the kids at home, Cooper, (half time) and grand kids here every day, but there are lots of hands when we need them.
Mike was riding bulls when we met in high-school and continued to ride on his college team in Eastern South Dakota but has long had the itch to have cattle. I suppose I was more of a farmer then rancher and had farm animals more for the fun of it although, one of my daughters, Cady, raised beef cattle, sheep, and a pig for 4-h. We also seemed to rescue every lost miniature horse I could. 6 still live with us here. Cady helps with the animals most, primarily running the Facebook page and answering questions along with, pictures and halter training and long days of just the regular work.
The cattle thing just sort of happened this go round. Mike listens to what I say and he gifted me the most beautiful miniature bottle calf... who needed a friend of course, so he bought me another miniature cow, 2 weeks later we were hooked. Those first 2 were chrondo positive. We really had no idea what that meant. (See our informational tab for more on Chrondoplasia )
Fast forward a few years and 75 head of Scottish Highland cows so we decided to move to more acreage to foster our new found happiness and now have nearly 100 head along with a bunch of other fuzzy and feathered pets. The new place was just a house and land so we have lots of projects... always projects on our miniature cattle ranch. We also have property about 20 minutes away, which we refer to as the pastures.
We sell our calves, goats, sheep and eggs but mostly this is just good wholesome fun for us.
We also have a few Baby Doll Southdown sheep , Nigerian Dwarf goats, a whole crap ton of chickens, and some very cute ponies and donkeys!
Meet the cattle and see who is expecting calves, and check out the sales page to see what I available now!
We love to share our cattle and talk cows. We both do work full time but if we have time we can schedule to show you our fold.
